Who doesn’t love a baby with a cushy cotton butt? They’re super adorable! It’s too easy and eco-friendly, and did I mention CUTE?! OMG!!
I know, I know… our parents and grandparents generation will make you feel like cloth diapers were the bane of their existence but I’m telling you, they’re AWESOME now! Long gone are the days of plain pinned diapers (or God forbid- bed sheets) and those horrible “rubber pants” – that I’ve never seen but I hear about too often!
Diapers are too cool for school now and I can’t even begin to tell you how much money we’ve saved by switching!
Now, generally, cloth diapering, especially if you want the cute ones, is a serious investment in the beginning. Even if you buy “pre-loved” diapers via DiaperSwappers or other sites, they’ll run you at least $8/ ea…yea….think about how many diapers your kids use and how many you’ll need… Those $8 begin to add up!
Around the time I got pregnant with my second son I decided to dig into the DIY world and started making all sorts of things at home. I knew I wanted to cloth diaper as well because I couldn’t live with those “millions of pounds of diapers in the landfill” statistics. Being a brand new family with very little disposable income, I figured I could DIY some diapers too. I talked all about it on my old blog.
Those were my very first attempt and they worked for the time being. The great thing is, they still work today for inserts, soakers, etc.
So any who, I’ve up’d my game in the cloth diapering world and got my sewing skills in order. I’ve officially switched to PUL fabric with this baby (mostly because I found some from //ws-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=US&source=ac&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=wwwnspiyahdli-20&marketplace=amazon®ion=US&placement=B005P1RILI&asins=B005P1RILI&linkId=33KUGQ2WNCA47HH5&show_border=true&link_opens_in_new_window=true“>Babyville Boutique on an awesome sale on Amazon) and I’ve FINALLY done a tutorial for you mamas who are ready to save BIG TIME!! Enjoy mamas!
